Disabling the task manager is sometimes a very handy tool, especially if you are running public computers. It is also a good idea to stop your children from accessing task manager as they can easily change settings that can possibly harm your computer and cause it to crash.
In task manager you can:
- End or start applications and programs
- Stop important processes from running
- Logoff users
- Shut down restart and logoff the computer
To disable task manager through group policy you must be using Windows XP , 2000, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Vista Business. If you are not using any of these operating systems, you can disable the task manager through your windows registry.
How to disable the task manager using the Windows group policy editor
- Go to the start menu and choose run from the menu
- Type in gpedit.msc and press ok
- Press on the plus sign next to User configuration.
- Press on the plus sign next to Administrative templates.
- Press on the plus sign next to System.
- Select CTL+ALT DEL Options by making it blue.
- Select Remove Task Manager in the right pane by making it blue. (number one on screen shot)
- Now press on properties. (Number two in the screenshot)
- If you choose enable, task manager will be disabled and you will not be able to access it. If you choose disable it will be be working fine again.

Notes:
- If the policy is Remove Task Manager, then by disabling the policy, you are enabling the Task Manager. Who ever invented this system was an idiot! LOL.
